St. Denis Stained Glass

The images depicted on the stained glass windows vary extensively, with things such as the life of Moses, the former kings and queens of France, the crusades, and St. Denis himself all being depicted. The original stained glass windows were maintained by a master stained glass maker during the 12th century. Unfortunately, many of the original windows of the cathedral have been removed and replaced, and pieces of the original windows are still occasionally found and traded for private collections. Today, only five of the original windows remain in the cathedral itself, with other pieces scattered around in private collections and being studied.
