The Reconquista and the Toledo Cathedral
Here is a set of identical coat of arms along the Toledo Cathedral walls. They were an early addition to the Cathedral as they did not include the pomegranate on the shield, a symbol of the Iberian city of Grenada, which had not been reconquered yet. The shields are held by an eagle, a symbol of St. John the Evangelist. These show that the Cathedral embodies the soul of Iberian and the Catholic church, and a part of their history.
